A drawing is defined as a unique work of art on paper in any medium. Pencil, charcoal, ink, pastel, watercolor, silverpoint, acrylic, oil and collage are included. Artists continually seek new ways to challenge artistic disciplines and expand the definition of drawing.

The galleries are a little different from those of a conventional museum. Because paper is sensitive to light and changes in temperature and humidity, you might notice lower levels of illumination and short-term installations in our galleries. Some drawings are small - inviting closer inspection to appreciate the subtleties of the materials and the nuances of execution. However, our collection shows many other facets of drawing as well. Large-scale works, painterly and mixed media approaches, and powerful, even confrontational expressions.
