Toys Designed by Artists
The Toys Designed by Artists collection is perhaps the largest of the special collections, with more than 200 works acquired from annual juried competitions that have been held for the past 36 years. Inspired by Alexander Calder's circus and the notion that artists can use materials creatively to express whimsy and a sense of play in objects, the collection includes works in virtually all art media. Among the artists represented are Hal Poth, Ann Wood and Dean Lucker, Frank Cheatham, Michelle Dent and Robert Maker.
