Twentieth Century American Drawings
Within the Arts Center's renowned collection of drawings, from the Renaissance to the present, one area of great strength is the American works from the 20th century. Choosing from the permanent collection, the scholar and critic Gerald Nordland selected 100 exemplary works to form the catalogue and exhibition Twentieth Century American Drawings from the Arkansas Arts Center. Highlights include works by Georgia O'Keeffe, Jackson Pollock, Romare Bearden, Edward Hopper and John Marin. Aside from the works presented in the catalogue, the Arts Center possesses over fifty Post-Minimalist drawings, mural sketches by Thomas Hart Benton, a sketchbook of Arthur Dove and numerous examples by Oscar Bluemner, Joseph Stella, Sidney Goodman and Jacob Lawrence.
