The Arkansas Arts Center offers a variety of opportunities for classroom teachers - elementary to college level - to enhance and enlarge their student's exposure to art.

Videotapes

A number of videotapes are available to teachers without a fee. The series for which we have selected individual titles include:

Portrait of an Artist   (6th grade to adult: Chagall, O'Keeffe, Matisse and others)
Museum without Walls   (8th grade to adult: The Greek Temple, Goya, The Cubist Epoch and others)
National Gallery of Art   (6th grade to adult: Paul Gauguin, Light of the Gods, A Treasury of Masterpieces and others)
The Metropolitan Museum of Art   (6th grade to adult: In a Brilliant Light: van Gogh in Arles, Glories of Medieval Art: The Cloisters, and others)
Civilisation with Lord Kenneth Clark   (8th grade to adult: volumes 1-7)
Art of the Western World   (6th grade to adult: volumes 1 - 9)

The collection includes a number of titles about individual contemporary artists. A brief list includes:

  • Roy Lichtenstein: Reflections
  • Salvador Dali: A Soft Self-Portrait
  • Mobile by Alexander Calder
  • Christo's Running Fence
  • Andrew Wyeth: Self-Portrait: Snow Hill
  • Chihuly: Glass Master

We are also fortunate, in part through the support of the Arkansas Humanities Council, to have added a number of titles associated with African-American history and culture and nineteenth and twentieth century African America artists. A partial list includes:
