Local artist to exhibit work at Arkansas Arts Center
(LITTLE ROCK, AR) - Arkansas artist, Warren Criswell, will have his works displayed in the exhibition, Warren Criswell: Shadows, Friday, June 13, through Sunday, August 10, 2003 at the Arkansas Arts Center.

The exhibition spans Criswell's entire career, from 1979 through the present. "This retrospective view shows his artistic journey, beginning with thought-provoking realism, winding through a dark middle period probing the human condition and eventually bringing him back to the very core elements of his earliest work," said Brian Young, Curator of Art.

Criswell is primarily a self-taught painter as well as a printmaker, sculptor and draftsman. His works possess reoccurring themes, such as highways, the homeless, and the ocean. Known as a self-satirist, Criswell is said to see his work as a kind of theater and regards it with irony and humor.
