FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Jewelry artist to host Conversation at Arkansas Arts Center
(LITTLE ROCK, AR) -
The Arkansas Arts Center Friends of Contemporary Craft will host a discussion with jewelry artist and art critic, Bruce Metcalf as part of the Conversations series on Saturday, February 28, 2004 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The event will take place in the Arkansas Arts Center Lower Lobby and Lecture Hall, 9th and Commerce.
Metcalf will discuss his work and his creative process. His jewelry, brooches and neckpieces, are typically made of finely carved wood and covered with gold leaf. He frequently constructs miniature fantasy habitats for storing his figurative jewelry so that the objects can be displayed in the home when they are not being worn. Each piece is one-of-a-kind.
Metcalf is exhibitions chair for the Society of North American Goldsmiths who organized the upcoming Arkansas Arts Center exhibition The Art of Gold.
Cost for the "Conversation" is $12 for FOCC Members and $15 for all others. For more information or to make reservations, call 501-396-0357.
