Arkansas Arts Center Studio Series Opens with Of Mice and Men
(LITTLE ROCK, AR) -
The Arkansas Arts Center opens the 2004-2005 Studio Series productions with “Of Mice and Men” on Thursday, October 7, 2004.
John Steinbeck’s depression-era classic tells the story of two migrant ranch workers, George Milton and his slow-witted partner, Lenny Small, dreaming of a better life in a better world. As the story opens, they are desperate and on the run from the law. It is a flight that leads to tragedy when their paths cross with that of a rancher’s lonely wife.
Steinbeck called “Of Mice and Men” a “play-novelette” when he wrote it in 1936. It was produced as a play in 1937. Already a Pulitzer Prize winner for his novel “Grapes of Wrath,” Steinbeck was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1962 in celebration of all of his works.
The cast of “Of Mice and Men,” directed by Bradley Anderson, includes: Don Rush as George, John Isner as Lennie, Pat Stair as Candy, Sid McMath as Curley, Randee as Curley’s wife, Mark Hansen as Slim, Thomas Hankins as Carlson, Andrew Bartholmey as Whit and Christian Carter as Crooks.
“Of Mice and Men” will run through October 16, 2004. Other Studio Series performances include: “Little Baby Snoogle Fleejer” and “Off The Wall.” Individual tickets are $14 and $12 for seniors. To purchase tickets, call the Arkansas Arts Center at 501-372-4000.
