FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Collectors Show and Sale opens at Arkansas Arts Center on December 3
(LITTLE ROCK, AR) -
The 36th Annual Collectors Show and Sale debuts at the Arkansas Arts Center on Friday, December 3, 2004 and runs through Sunday, February 6, 2005.
Over 200 pieces of fine art from approximately 21 prominent New York galleries will be on view in the Sam Strauss, Sr. Gallery. The exhibition features a selection of work from the Renaissance to the Contemporary. In between are significant artists including Elie Nadelman, Bettye Saar and Thomas Hart Benton. Brian Young, curator of art, describes the show as “a chance for Arkansas Arts Center visitors to view a slice of the national drawing market.”
This is one of the few shows at the Arkansas Arts Center where visitors are given the opportunity to purchase the works on view. The Collectors Show and Sale introduces emerging artists in order to show the trends coming out of New York. The most notable aspects of the exhibition, which places special emphasis on drawings, are quality and variety.
