48th Annual Delta Exhibition Awards Announced

(LITTLE ROCK, AR) - The Arkansas Arts Center is proud to announce the award winners selected in the "48th Annual Delta Exhibition."

Top honors, the Grand Award and two Delta Awards, were given to three artists in the exhibition. Tim Crowder, from Cordova, Tenn. is the recipient of the Grand Award for his work Two ½ Pails. David Anderson from Little Rock and Jeff Mickey from Memphis both received Delta Awards. Anderson's silver gelatin photograph is titled Flights. Mickey's mixed-media sculpture is titled Spirit Boat.

Honorable Mention went to three artists, Hugo Berumen from Pine Bluff, Ark., Niles Wallace from Memphis, Tenn. and Kat Wilson from Little Rock.

Other artists selected for the exhibition are: Maribeth Anders, John Bridges, Cathy Burns, Sheila Cantrell, David Carpenter, Rachel Carroccio, Tom Chaffee, Casey Crocker, Sandy Freshour, Jacqueline Golden, Mariah Anne Johnson, Joanne Jones, Benjamin Krain, Cynthia Kresse, Matthew Lopas, Erin Lorenzen, Glenda Lewis McCune, Dawn Meyer, Alice A. Parr, Patricia Singh, Lauren Wilcox and Jana Young from Arkansas; Alice Cork and Thomas Mann from Louisiana; Jim Estes and Paul Tosh from Missouri; Sandra Murchison from Mississippi; Arn Henderson from Oklahoma; Beth Edwards, Jan Hankins, Michael Lorefice, Susan Maakestad, Vitus Shell and Bobby Spillman from Tennessee; and David Blow, Mike Stephens, H. Jacob Tobler and Paul Valadez from Texas.

All works were selected by artist Roger Shimomura, professor at the University of Kansas. This regional competition is open to those born or living in Arkansans and the contiguous states: Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Texas. The Delta presents the opportunity to see a selection of the best contemporary work in all media within our geographic region.

The "48th Annual Delta Exhibition" runs from Friday, May 13 though Sunday July 17, 2005 in the Townsend Wolfe Gallery of the Arts Center.
