FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Arkansas Arts Center exhibits works from permanent collection
(LITTLE ROCK, AR) -
The Arkansas Arts Center will display approximately 60 recently acquired works in the exhibition “Recent Acquisitions: Arkansas Arts Center Foundation Collection” on Friday, July 15 through Sunday, August 21, 2005 in the Sam Strauss, Sr. and Stella Boyle Smith Galleries.
The Arkansas Arts Center has added over 300 works to its permanent holdings during the past three years. The majority of these works reflect the Arkansas Arts Center’s practice of using acquisition funds for two primary collecting areas: drawings and contemporary craft. Among the pieces that have been purchased, highlights of the exhibition include 19th century drawings by Christian Købke and William Merritt Chase; modernist drawings by Arthur Dove, Joseph Stella and Rawlston Crawford; and con-temporary works of art by Robert Cottingham, Russell Crotty, Enrique Chagoya, Robert Bechtle, Jun Kaneko and Paul Soldner. Several works by Arkansas artists have also been added including pieces by Warren Criswell, Evan Lindquist and Howard Stern.
Admission is free. For additional information call 501-372-4000 or visit www.arkarts.com.
