FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
“GO, DOG. GO!” opens the season at Arkansas Arts Center Children’s Theatre
(LITTLE ROCK, AR) -
The 2005-06 Children’s Theatre season, presented by the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette and Bank of the Ozarks, will open with the regional premiere of the musical GO, DOG. GO! on Friday, September 16. Performances are held Fridays at 7:00 p.m., Saturdays at 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. and Sundays at 2:00 p.m. through October 2.
One of America’s most beloved books by P.D. Eastman will burst onto the Children’s Theatre stage with MC Dog narrating this musical and comedic journey of canines, big and small. The production is a mad mix of circus, dance and visual treats. The stage explodes with color, motion, music and dogs – just like a pop-up book that comes to life and never stops.
With direction by Bradley Anderson, the production has scenic design by Pam Adam, costume design by Erin Larkin, lighting design by Dale Bicker and stage management by Liz Fleck. Adaptation for GO, DOG. GO! is by Allison Gregory and Steven Dietz and music is by Michael Koerner.
The cast of GO, DOG. GO! includes: Kristy Barrington as Blue Dog; Brett Ihler as Green Dog; Randee as Hattie Dog and Spotted Dog; Josh Rice as Red Dog; Don Rush as MC Dog and Ashley Wright as Yellow Dog.
P.D. Eastman (1909 - 1986) worked in production design and story at Walt Disney's studio and Warner Brothers Cartoons. Eastman helped create the cartoon character Mr. Magoo while working at United Productions of America. In 1954, Ted Geisel (Dr. Seuss) approached him to write for his new BEGINNER BOOK series at Random House. Eastman wrote and illustrated several books of this classic line of easy readers, one of which was GO, DOG. GO!
Tickets for the production are $14 for adults, $11 for children and $10 for groups of ten or more. To purchase tickets, call the Arkansas Arts Center at 501-372-4000 or online at www.arkarts.com.
