FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The Arkansas Arts Center hosts a Family Day celebrating Judy Onofrio
(LITTLE ROCK, AR) -
In celebration of Judy Onofrio's exhibit - Come One, Come All - Arkansas Arts Center will host "Art Under the Big Top" Family Day on Saturday, October 1 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Centering her art on circus-themed whimsy, Onofrio creates sculptures of gypsies, fortune tellers, acrobats and other circus characters with beads, bottle caps, shells, marbles, broken mirrors and china. Appealing to both children and adults alike, Onofrio's 33-piece exhibit tells the stories of unimaginable places and adventures of the circus life, providing an active narrative for her work.
To assist in this exploration of the world of art and circus performers, free Docent led tours will be held at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., noon and 1 p.m. In addition to the exhibition tours, children will be able to use buttons, beads and other found objects to create circus-themed sculptures of their own in a hands-on workshop that will be held at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. A theatre workshop will also be offered where children will use their bodies and imaginations to create a circus-themed improvisation. Workshops require reservations and cost $6. To register, call Curator of Education Erin Branham at 501-396-0367.
