FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Arkansas Arts Center presents the 10th National Drawing Invitational

(LITTLE ROCK, AR) -

Showcasing the works of talented artists, the Arkansas Arts Center will present the 10th National Drawing Invitational, which runs October 21 through December 31, 2005, in the Townsend Wolfe Gallery.

Developed to promote contemporary American draftsmen, the National Drawing Invitational adheres to the highest standards of the Arkansas Arts Center by requiring that all works exhibit high quality, whether the artists are emerging or prominent. Work by Helen Frankenthaler, Alison Saar, Sidney Goodman, Roy De Forest and other acclaimed artist have been displayed in the past.

Centering on a loosely based theme of attention to detail, Curator of Art Brian Young invited artists from all backgrounds to contribute to the 10th National Drawing Invitational. "Centering the Invitational around the premise of attention to detail has allowed me to choose artists that spend as much time on drawing as they might on say a painting," said Young. "This theme exposes a complex world within a work that allows the viewer to explore the motivation of the artist."

Featuring works from Michael Madore's frenetic and colorful pieces to Scott Teplin's cartoon-like imaginary homes, the 10th National Drawing Invitational will display an array of eccentric works from a myriad of artists. Other artists that will be featured include: Astrid Bowlby, Jonathan Herder, Marietta Hoferer, Robert Gutierrez , Nicola López, Karen Moss, Beverly Ress, Oriane Stender, Skip Steinworth, Barbara Takenaga and Dannielle Tegeder.

For more information about the 10th National Drawing Invitational, please contact Brian Young at 501-372-4000.
