The Museum School offers classes for children, teens and adults and art enthusiasts of every skill level - from those who have never exercised their creativity to seasoned veterans looking to expand their artistic horizons. Classes are offered on a quarterly basis with day, evening and weekend classes available to meet the demands of busy schedules.
Museum School disciplines include Art Appreciation & Art History, Drawing, Jewelry, Painting, Photography, Pottery/Clay, Theatre and Woodworking. Beginning, intermediate and advanced level classes are scheduled to focus on the fundamentals important to the progressive development of artistic technique. Children over the age of 14 are encouraged to participate in the adult classes.
Classes for younger artists have varying subjects. They may focus on a two-dimensional technique, like painting, drawing or collage, or a three-dimensional technique, like clay or sculpture. Classes are often based on specific subjects, like Toy Making and Alien Art. During the summer, the Weekly Arts Extravaganzas for Ages 6-9 can have such exciting themes for kids as Arts and Crafts of the Old West and Animals in Art.
Specialized workshops with guest artists are also a special feature of Museum School programs.
