Guided School Tours FAQs:
How long will my tour last?
Tours last approximately 60 minutes.
When are tours offered?
Tours are offered Tuesday through Friday between 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m., with the last tour beginning at 1 p.m. All guided tours must be booked three weeks in advance.
How many students can I bring for the tour?
The maximum group size for Guided School Tours is sixty students, with a few exceptions. Groups are then divided into smaller groups which consist of one docent per ten students. Our goal is to maintain a 1:10 ratio for each smaller group.
How many chaperones should I bring?
We recommend bringing one chaperone for every ten students.
Should my students bring any materials with them?
Students may sketch with pencil in notebooks sized 8.5" x 11" or smaller. Colored pencils, ink pens, food, drinks, chewing gum, candy and water bottles are not allowed in the museum galleries. Students are asked to check backpacks, large bags and umbrellas at the Stephen's Inc. Visitors Center.
Is photography allowed in the museum?
Photography of our permanent collection is permitted without the use of flash for private, non-commercial use only. Photography is NOT permitted in special exhibitions or in areas designated as "No Photography". If you are unsure, please ask a representative or security officer.
Once the guided tour is completed, can my group stay in the galleries?
Yes, we encourage students and teachers to go back through the galleries to spend more time with their favorite works of art or to complete any class assignments.
