Design and create a three-dimensional sculpture using "found objects," those interesting tidbits that attract you because of their shape, patina, or sense of whimsy or mystery. Bring found objects that are small and can be incorporated onto a copper sheet that's approximately 12"x12". Items can be cold connected (wired, screwed or riveted) or soldered to the copper. There will be a collection of found objects at the workshop that you can use as well. Think outside the box for this workshop! No experience necessary. A Tool and Supply List is available on the AAC website at arkansasartscenter.org/museum-school---supply-lists.

Been saving Grandma's old dishes? Here's a chance to learn the tried and true techniques to mosaic found objects into wonderful keepsakes. Whether it's a wall hanging, garden art, or 3-dimensional home accessories, projects will be the student's choice. Cutting techniques, tile placement, and grouting will be covered extensively. Students can bring baubles, old dishes, scrap stained glass, broken tiles, marbles, old mirror, etc. A list of supplies/tools (some will be provided) will be provided at the time of registration and reviewed during the first class. A $10 materials fee is payable to the instructor at the first class.

Hypertufa is an artificial rock that is lighter than regular concrete, water permeable, and ages beautifully with a look of old rock. Students will learn the basics and will make objects - either a stepping stone or a basic bowl (for a planter or birdbath) - out of hypertufa. We will also cover creating textures, sand casting, coloring/painting techniques, incorporating mosaics, sculpting, free hand molding, and using armatures through leaf casting. Visit www.garagesalequeen.biz to see Hypertufa Garden Art. A materials fee of $20 is payable to the instructor on the day of the workshop. A Supply List will be available on the AAC website at http://www.arkansasartscenter.org/museum-school---supply-lists.
